To Be or Not to Be

As I have come to find out, EVE online is what most people are calling a sandbox style MMORPG. What this means is that you can choose to do anything you want (well within limits, there must be some order to chaos). Build a castle and if you don't like it, move on and build something different. A unique computer game amongst the rest of the world which wants to shove you into a particular class or profession.

As I am finding out though there are roles that people can play. The skill set is such that you can dabble in any number of hundreds of skills and be adequate at lots of things, but to be good or great at something you will have to bite down and focus on a particular set of skills.

My first month of play was spent doing missions and trying out different ships. Lost in the sea, I began by getting my basic level in all the certificates. Some would say nah-nah to this, but it has allowed me to fly many different styles of ships and have a lot of fun. In a short while I expect to be able to fly frigates, destroyers, cruisers, and battlecruiser from all 4 races.

So..on to the title...I spent about a month trying to figure out where to go in EVE. Pirate, Solo Pirate, Caldari Military Man, Pirate Hunter, Mercenary, Merchant, Inventor, Transporter??? The list was long...but here I am....

Welcome to my blog regarding the MMO universe of EVE Online.

I have to start by thanking my RL friend Dbay for reminding me that there was a game out there called EVE online and that we should give it a try. I had read about it several years ago but at that time I was not interested in MMOs of any kind. I have been playing role-playing/war games for over 26 years and just could not get into the limited scope that computer role-playing games produced for its players. EVE was a breath of fresh air and I was hooked after a day of play.

My second thanks has to go out to PyjamaSam and Roc Wieler for creating the application called Capsuleer. A wonderful app that has inspired me to join the online blogging community of EVE and carry my EVE addiction with me no matter where I go.
